Shared function halls are lit for visibility and cleaning, not for photographing people, and the result is consistent and unflattering.

Light coming straight down puts shadows under everyone’s eyes, the colour is usually green or blue enough to matter, and a low ceiling means there is nowhere to bounce anything. Left alone it produces the flat, slightly sickly look that community-hall photographs are known for.

It is entirely fixable and it takes about two minutes of setup, but only if the photographer arrives expecting it rather than discovering it. That is really the whole argument for saying where the function is when you book.

The rest is ordinary engagement coverage — the exchange, both families, the groups. It is just worth knowing that in this particular room, the difference between a good set and a poor one is decided before anyone arrives.
