In a society, everyone uses the same clubhouse, the same hall and the same lawn, and the flats share a layout. Which means the photographs tend to share one too. Most of what we do differently here is about that.
Why the albums all look alike
The same hall, the same wall, the same one good window in every flat.
Nobody chose this. It is what happens when several hundred families share a handful of rooms and each photographer shoots them the obvious way.
The clubhouse has one well-lit corner, so every birthday is photographed in it. The hall has overhead tubes and a low ceiling, so everyone comes out flat and slightly green. And a flat built to a standard plan has one window worth using, which decides where a home session happens before anyone arrives.
Some of that is genuinely useful. We can usually work out where the light in your flat will be, and which way it faces, before setting foot in it — which removes the twenty minutes normally spent looking for somewhere to work. With a newborn, those twenty minutes matter.
The rest is worth actively resisting. Shooting the decor from inside rather than square on. Working a room from a child’s height instead of an adult’s. Using the corner that needs the furniture moved two feet. None of it is difficult; it just has to be decided rather than defaulted into.

Dhanori and the areas beside it
We photograph across Dhanori — in flats, in society clubhouses and halls, on the common lawns, and at the studio in Wadgaon Sheri when a session wants controlled light instead.

Our flat is small. Is there enough space to photograph in?
Almost certainly. Most home sessions happen within a few feet of one window, so what matters is which way that window faces rather than how many rooms there are. Tell us the direction and we will suggest an hour.
Everyone’s clubhouse photographs look the same. Can that be avoided?
Yes, and it is mostly a matter of not using the one obvious corner. Send us a phone photograph of the room beforehand and we will find an angle the last three parties did not use.
Do we need permission to photograph in the common areas?
That depends entirely on your society, so please check with your committee rather than assume either way. We will work to whatever the answer is, including staying inside your own flat if that is simpler.
The hall is booked for a fixed slot.
Tell us the window when you book. Group photographs move to early in the function rather than the end, which is where a hard stop otherwise squeezes them out.
