Everything else about a booking can be arranged. The sky cannot — and it decides more about how a session goes than most of the decisions people spend time on. What follows is which sessions that actually affects, and what to do about it.
The most common unnecessary cancellation
A grey sky is good news. Almost nobody believes this.
Families postpone sessions for overcast forecasts constantly, and it is very nearly always the wrong call. An overcast sky is soft, even, and it lasts most of the day instead of one hour.
For anything indoors it is simply the best light available. For an outdoor session it removes the harsh-shadow problem entirely and widens the usable hours from one to several.
Bright sun is the harder condition, not the easier one. It sits high, puts shadows under everybody’s eyes, makes people squint, and moves fast enough that a room which works at ten does not work at eleven.
The genuinely useful thing to know is which sessions are exposed at all, because most are not. Studio work is completely immune. Home sessions need daylight but not good weather. Only outdoor bookings on a fixed date are really at risk — and those are the ones that need a fallback agreed at the start rather than improvised on the morning.
Two other things are worth stating plainly. Outdoors, the last hour or two before sunset is the single largest improvement available to any session, and it costs nothing. Indoors, which direction a room faces decides the hour better than any preference could, which is why we ask about that instead of asking when suits you.
Waiting for better weather is genuinely worth it in one case: an exterior that needs a clear sky, usually a property where the outlook is the selling point. Those are rarer than people assume.
What we photograph
Grouped by how exposed to the weather it is
Every service below has a Ghorpadi page of its own. Most of them are in the first two columns, which is the point — far less depends on the sky than people assume.
Completely unaffected
At the studio, under controlled light. Nothing about these depends on the day, which is why matched sets and catalogues belong here rather than anywhere with a window.
Needs daylight, not good weather
Home and indoor sessions. They want light through a window, and a soft grey sky is the best version of that — so there is rarely any reason to postpone one.
Genuinely exposed
Outdoors, on a date that usually cannot move. These are the bookings that need a real fallback agreed at the start rather than improvised on the morning.

Ghorpadi and the areas around it
We photograph across Ghorpadi — at home, outdoors, at function venues, and at the studio in Wadgaon Sheri, where nothing at all depends on what the sky is doing.
The neighbouring areas are the same short journey: Koregaon Park, Mundhwa, Hadapsar, Magarpatta City and Viman Nagar. We take bookings across the rest of Pune, and travel beyond it for weddings.
If a forecast is worrying you, ask before cancelling — most sessions are far less exposed than they seem, and grey weather usually improves them. There is no fixed package: tell us what you need and you get a clear quote for that coverage.
Before you book
What the sky actually changes
Less than you would expect. Anything about a particular kind of session is on that service’s own page.

It looks like it will be overcast. Should we reschedule?
Almost never, and this is the most common unnecessary cancellation we see. An overcast sky is soft, even and lasts most of the day rather than one hour. For anything indoors it is the best light there is, and for outdoor sessions it removes the harsh-shadow problem entirely.
Is bright sunshine not better?
Usually not. High, direct sun puts shadows under everybody’s eyes, makes people squint, and moves fast enough that a room usable at ten is unusable at eleven. It is workable and it is nobody’s first choice.
What actually depends on the weather and what does not?
Anything outdoors is exposed. Anything at the studio is completely immune. Home sessions sit in between — they need daylight but not good weather, and grey days suit them well. Splitting a booking along that line is usually more practical than postponing all of it.
When is it genuinely worth waiting for a better day?
When a specific exterior needs a clear sky — a property whose outlook is a selling point, or a building shot from outside. Those are rarer than people assume, and almost everything else can go ahead.
What time of day should an outdoor session be?
The last hour or two before sunset, nearly always. It is the single largest improvement available to an outdoor session and it costs nothing. Tell us which way a home faces and we will suggest an hour for an indoor one.
Which areas do you cover from here?
Ghorpadi, Koregaon Park, Mundhwa, Hadapsar, Magarpatta City, Wadgaon Sheri and Viman Nagar are the closest, and we take bookings across the rest of Pune. The studio is in Wadgaon Sheri.
Ask before you cancel
Most sessions are far less exposed to the weather than they seem, and a grey sky usually improves them rather than spoiling anything.
