Newborn Photography in Kalyani Nagar, Pune

Newborn sessions for Kalyani Nagar families — usually booked by parents who have already saved a dozen images and want to know which of them are actually possible.

The conversation worth having first

You have saved a reference. Half of what is in it is styling, and some of it is not safe.

Almost every newborn enquiry here arrives with images attached, and that is genuinely useful — as long as we go through them properly.

Some of what gets saved is achievable on the day with any baby. Some depends entirely on a baby who sleeps deeply for two hours, which is not something anyone can promise. And a few of the poses that circulate widely are composites — two frames merged afterwards — because they cannot be done safely in one exposure with a real newborn.

Saying which is which before the session, rather than discovering it during, is the single most valuable thing in the first conversation. Nobody wants to spend a session chasing a photograph that was never available and leave without the ones that were.

What we can commit to is the approach: every pose supported, a parent or one of us within reach throughout, and nothing balanced or propped for the sake of an image. Within that, a great deal of what people save is straightforwardly doable.

The honest framing is that a saved reference is an outcome, not a recipe. It shows what somebody got; it does not show the two hours of settling, the three attempts, or the baby who happened to sleep through the whole thing.

None of that makes references unhelpful. They are the clearest way to tell a photographer what you want, far better than adjectives, and we would rather have them than not.

What they need is translating. Which parts are the photography, which are styling you could bring, and which depend on luck — established beforehand, that conversation removes almost every disappointment these sessions produce.

The one thing we will not do is agree to a pose that cannot be done safely in a single frame. Some of what circulates widely is composited afterwards, and saying so is more useful than attempting it.

The other thing references cannot show is what the family wanted. Two sets that look identical can have come from completely different briefs, and the one you saved may have been shot for somebody with different priorities entirely.

So it is worth saying what you actually want out of the session as well as what you liked the look of. Those are different questions and only the second one is answered by a folder.

Families who do both tend to get very close to what they hoped for, because we are working towards an outcome rather than reverse-engineering an image.

Getting ready

Sending references before the session

Send what you have saved before the session rather than showing us on the day. Going through them takes ten minutes and it decides what the session is actually aiming at.

Bring anything that appears in those references and belongs to you — a wrap, a knitted item, jewellery. Props we do not have cannot be conjured on the morning.

Pack for a baby rather than for a shoot. Extra feeds, a change of clothes, and enough patience for a session that will be paced around them regardless of what any reference shows.

Planning it

What we go through first

Which of your references are achievable with any baby, which depend on a baby who sleeps deeply for two hours, and which are composites made from two frames.

What you liked about each one, because the answer is usually the light or the mood rather than the pose, and that is far easier to deliver.

And what you would be sorriest not to have. If the session runs short, that is what we shoot first.

We have a set of reference images. Should we send them?

Yes, please do, before the session rather than on the day. We will tell you honestly which are achievable, which depend on how the baby is, and which are composites rather than single frames.

Can you recreate a specific pose we have seen?

Often, if it is safe and your baby cooperates. Some widely shared poses are made from two merged frames and cannot be done in one — we will say so rather than attempt it.

How much of this depends on the baby?

More than any other kind of session. We plan for feeds, settling and a baby who has other ideas, which is why the session is paced rather than scheduled tightly.

Which areas near Kalyani Nagar do you cover?

Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, Yerawada, Wadgaon Sheri, Viman Nagar, Kharadi, Mundhwa and Vishrantwadi are all close, and we take newborn bookings across Pune.

Can you recreate a specific pose?

Often, if it is safe and your baby cooperates. Some widely shared poses are two merged frames and cannot be done in one.

How much depends on the baby?

More than any other session. We plan for feeds, settling and a baby with other ideas.

Do you provide props and wraps?

Tell us what you have in mind at booking and we will confirm exactly what is provided so nothing is assumed.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Yes, and siblings early while their patience holds.

How long should we allow?

Longer than the photography needs. Feeding and settling take up most of a newborn session by design.

Will we see everything taken?

You receive the selected, edited set. Test frames and duplicates help nobody.

Can we book before the birth?

Yes, and most do. We hold an approximate window rather than a fixed date.

What if the session does not go as planned?

We tell you honestly rather than filling a gallery. Sometimes the truthful set is smaller and it is still the right one.

How soon after the shoot do we receive the images?

We confirm the timeline in writing when you book rather than leaving it open.

Can we get a small set early?

Tell us at booking if it matters and we will prioritise it.

Do you travel outside Pune?

Yes, across Maharashtra and beyond for work that warrants it, with travel agreed upfront.

How do we book?

Send us the date and what you have in mind, and you get a clear quote for the coverage you actually need.

Send us your references

Along with your due date. Going through them properly beforehand is worth more than any amount of planning on the day.
