Do you have weekend slots? We both work.

Our parents are visiting for two weeks. Can you fit a session into that?
Tell us their dates and we will try, and book it for early in the visit rather than late. Sessions left until the end of a trip are the ones that quietly do not happen.
Can family who live in another city be part of the photographs?
They can be in the room on a screen, and we can photograph that as it happens if you want it recorded — plenty of families do, because it is an honest picture of how the occasion actually ran. It is your call either way.
