The second event nobody plans for
The wedding is at home. The reception in Pune is for everyone who could not come.
For couples who moved here for work, the celebration frequently splits in two, and the Pune half is an afterthought until about three weeks beforehand.
That second event deserves better than it usually gets. It is where the colleagues, flatmates and neighbours who make up your life in this city finally meet each other and meet your family — and it is almost never photographed with the same care as the ceremony.
It is also a different job. A reception in a Kharadi hotel or clubhouse is one evening, mostly indoors, mostly people rather than ritual, with a guest list that will not repeat. Group photographs matter far more here than at the wedding itself, because nobody is going to reassemble this particular room again.
If we are covering the wedding as well, say so early — planning both as one commission is straightforward, and treating them as two unrelated bookings is how the reception ends up with two hours of coverage and no plan.
The Pune reception is the event most consistently under-served at weddings like these. It gets planned last, booked late, and covered as an afterthought — despite being the only occasion where the people you actually see every week meet the family you grew up with.
Treated properly it is often the more interesting of the two events to photograph, precisely because nobody in the room has been in that combination before and nobody will be again.
For couples splitting the celebration, decide early which event the album is really about. Both can be covered; they are rarely equal in importance and pretending otherwise spreads the effort thin.
The Pune reception deserves a proper group list. The people there are your life in this city and they will not be assembled in one room again, which makes it the one event where a shot list genuinely earns its place.
If family are travelling in for the reception, tell us their dates. Anything involving them happens while they are in the country, not at the end of the evening.

Two events, one commission
Decide early whether the Pune reception is being covered as well as the wedding, because planning them together works considerably better than booking them separately.
Send a guest list for the reception, or at least the groupings. It is the one event where the people who make up your life in this city are all in one room, and it will not repeat.
Tell your colleagues and friends that group photographs are happening. At a reception full of people who do not know each other, someone has to organise it and it should not be you on the night.

Who will be at each. The reception guest list is usually completely different from the wedding one, and that changes what the coverage is for.
And what the reception is meant to achieve. Introducing your family to your life here is a different job from a second celebration, and the photographs follow from which it is.

Yes, and it is a common booking. Tell us the venue and the running order and we will plan the evening properly rather than treating it as an add-on.
Can you travel to our wedding in another city?
Yes. We cover locations across Maharashtra and take on destination weddings. Travel and stay are agreed with you upfront, before anything is booked.
Group photographs matter a lot to us. How do you handle them?
By planning them into the running order rather than squeezing them in at the end. Send us a list of the groups you want and we will work through it while people are still in the room.
Which venues around Kharadi do you work at?
Hotels, clubhouses and function rooms across Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Nagar Road, Wadgaon Sheri and Keshav Nagar, and venues across the rest of Pune.

Our families are meeting for the first time at the reception.
Then say so. It changes which photographs matter and it is worth ten planned minutes rather than hoping it happens.
Do you work with a second photographer?
For larger weddings it is often right. Tell us the scale and we will say honestly whether one person can cover it properly.
Can we book only some of the functions?
Yes. Plenty of families book a single day. Tell us which and we will plan it properly.
How soon do we receive the photographs?
Confirmed in writing at booking. It depends on the size of the coverage and we would rather commit to a real date.
Do you photograph the reception separately?
Yes, and for couples splitting the celebration across cities that is often the only Pune booking.
Can you cover a registry or court marriage?
Yes, and they are often short and worth doing well. Tell us the timing and where it is.
Do you photograph the mehendi and haldi as well?
Yes, and as a block with the wedding if they run consecutively.
