The room decides a lot

Banquet rooms are lit for the room, not for the people in it.

Dim, warm, heavily downlit, and frequently with a colour cast strong enough to matter. It is consistent and it is entirely workable once expected.

The thing that makes it manageable is knowing which room before the day, because the setup differs and it takes two minutes rather than twenty.

And the third is where couple portraits can happen, because a banquet room rarely offers anywhere suitable and there is usually somewhere nearby that does.

The empty room is worth two minutes of photography and it is the only chance to record what the space looked like before it became a function.

Where the function room is shared or semi-open, it is worth identifying one clean background before guests arrive.

That single spot then carries every arranged photograph of the evening, which is far better than hunting for backgrounds while people wait.
