The most personal set

Maternity photographs are the ones people are most careful about sharing.

More than any other session, this is one where people have clear views about who sees the results, and those views are worth stating at the start.

That is particularly true if the people you would be sharing with are also the people you work alongside, which for a good number of readers here is the case.

It is entirely normal to want a set that goes nowhere beyond your own family, and it needs no justification.

It is equally normal to want something that can be shared freely, and the two are not the same session in terms of what you might be comfortable with.

Say which at the start and the session is built around it, including how much of the pregnancy is actually visible.

Nothing from a maternity session is ever used publicly by us without being asked first.

It is worth knowing that a private set does not mean a lesser set.

Everything about the session is the same, and what you receive is the same. The only difference is that none of it appears anywhere else.

People occasionally worry that asking for privacy will result in less effort, which is not how anybody serious about this works.

It is also worth considering who in your family should see these before you send them.

Maternity photographs land differently with different relatives, and a set forwarded to a wide family group without thought is the most common regret attached to this session.

Sending to a few people deliberately is easier than retrieving something afterwards, which is not really possible at all.
