For a lot of people here, the neighbours and the colleagues are the same people. If that is true for you, a set of photographs does not circulate among strangers — it circulates among everybody you will see tomorrow. That is worth a moment’s thought beforehand rather than afterwards.
Worth deciding once
Being photographed and being shared are two different permissions.
They get treated as one thing constantly, and that is where almost every awkwardness about photographs begins. Plenty of people are entirely happy to be in a photograph and much less happy about that photograph circulating.
So we ask separately, and we would rather you decided in advance than found yourself unwinding something afterwards.
What we commit to: nothing from your session is published, posted or shown publicly by us unless you have said it can be. Asking for a set to stay entirely private needs no reason, and nobody will ask you for one.
Beyond that, a few things are worth knowing because they come up constantly and almost nobody raises them until it is late.
In most families at least one person would rather not be photographed, and they rarely say so because a family photograph is presented as something everybody obviously wants. One frame with everybody and nothing else for them is a normal arrangement. It also shows in the photographs when somebody is standing there unwillingly.
At a children’s party, other people’s children are in the room and their parents have views. One line on the invitation settles it for everybody in advance.
And where staff are photographed for a business, agreeing to be photographed at work is not the same as agreeing to appear on a website indefinitely. Asking explicitly protects the business as much as the person.

Photographs made to be published. Where recognisable people appear in them, agreeing that explicitly beforehand protects everybody — including the business.

We photograph across Magarpatta City — at home, at function venues, and at the studio in Wadgaon Sheri, which is the most private option if being seen is part of what puts you off.

Will our photographs be used anywhere?
Not without your say-so. Nothing from a session is published, posted or shown publicly by us unless you have said it can be, and asking for a set to stay entirely private needs no reason — nobody will ask you for one.
Somebody in the family would rather not be photographed.
That is true of most families and it is easily accommodated. One frame with everybody and nothing else for them is a normal arrangement rather than a concession, and it shows in the photographs when somebody is standing there unwillingly.
Other people’s children will be at our party.
Usually, and most parents are relaxed about it. One line on the invitation — a photographer will be there, tell us if you would rather your child was not photographed — settles it for everybody in advance and removes an awkwardness that otherwise sits unspoken through the afternoon.
We are photographing staff for our business. What should we do?
Ask each person explicitly, say where the images will be used, and make a no easy to give. Being photographed at work is not the same as agreeing to appear on a website indefinitely, and the two get conflated constantly. It protects the business as much as the individual.
Is being photographed the same as agreeing to it being shared?
No, and they are worth treating as two separate permissions. Plenty of people are happy to be in a photograph and unhappy about that photograph circulating, and assuming one implies the other is how these things go wrong.
