How many will really happen

Families who plan four sittings usually manage two.

That is not a failure of intent. It is what happens when four separate occasions each need the same people free at the same time across a year.

A plan built for four that stalls after the first leaves you with one photograph and a sense of having not done it properly.

A plan built for two that gets done leaves you with a set. The second is better, and it is chosen by being honest at the start.

So the useful question is not how many stages there are but how many appointments you will genuinely keep.

Told two, we design a two-sitting set that works as a pair. Told three, the same for three. Either reads as deliberate rather than incomplete.

Booking the sittings in advance is worth more here than anywhere else on the site.

A date in a calendar gets defended. An intention to arrange something in three months competes with everything else that arises in three months, and loses.

That is the entire mechanism by which milestone sets end up as a single photograph.

It is also worth agreeing what happens if a sitting has to move, because it will.

A stage photographed two weeks late is fine. A stage abandoned because the date slipped is not, and the difference is only whether it was rescheduled or dropped.

Ask us to move it rather than quietly letting it go.

Where a series genuinely cannot be arranged, one good sitting is a perfectly respectable outcome.

It is better than three half-arranged ones and considerably better than none.
