An hour you can protect

These sessions are postponed indefinitely, and the reason is always the diary.

Not reluctance and not cost. Two people with jobs and probably children rarely have an afternoon that is genuinely free, and this is the thing that gets moved.

Which is why the session is deliberately short. An hour can be protected; an afternoon cannot, and one that has to be defended against everything else tends to lose.

The other half of the problem is childcare, which is the actual booking rather than the photography. It is worth arranging that first and the session second.

A weekday works well for this and almost nobody considers it, because these sessions get mentally filed as a weekend activity.

Anywhere quiet, an hour, and gentle direction throughout. That is the whole thing.

It is worth booking this alongside something else that is already happening.

A couple session attached to a family shoot, or to a day you are already dressed for, removes almost all of the scheduling difficulty in one move.

Twenty minutes at the end of something already arranged is easier than an hour that has to be created from nothing.

Most couples do not think to ask for it, and it is usually the easiest way this actually happens.

Where it is a standalone booking, keeping it near home is worth more than choosing a better location further away.

Time spent travelling is time taken from an hour that was already difficult to find.
