The work, not the pose
Somebody at a desk looking at a screen with nothing on it, two people holding a conversation that is not happening, a handshake nobody meant.
Everybody can tell, and the images do the opposite of what they were commissioned for.
Photographs of the work genuinely being done have none of that problem, and they are usually easier to arrange because nothing has to be staged.
It requires shooting during actual working time rather than during a cleared hour, which is the only real constraint.
That is a scheduling decision more than anything else, and it is worth making deliberately.
Where the work is not visually interesting, that is worth saying and we will find what is.
It is worth photographing the unglamorous parts of a business as well as the presentable ones.
Storage, preparation, the back of the shop, the thing that has to happen at six in the morning.
Businesses hide all of it and customers find it far more convincing than a photograph of a tidy front counter.
It is also worth photographing people who do not usually get photographed.
Whoever is at the back, whoever does the thing nobody sees. They are frequently the most interesting subject on the premises.
Both of those need permission from the business rather than any arrangement, and they cost very little time.

How the session itself works is covered in full on the main commercial photography page.

Say so and we will find what is. There is nearly always something, and it is rarely the obvious thing.

On site for this. The studio is simpler for product and portrait work.

Lightly by default. Tell us your preference.
Never. Whatever you booked is the main part of the session and gets done properly. This is an addition, usually ten or fifteen minutes.
It does, and it stops feeling strange about five minutes in. That reluctance is extremely common and it is not a reason to skip it.
No, and preparing would defeat it. The point is the thing as it actually is rather than as it would be if it had been arranged.
