Newborn Photography in Pune

Newborn sessions are best booked for the first few weeks, when babies sleep deeply and curl naturally. We keep the studio warm, work slowly around feeds and settling, and never rush a pose. Parents are welcome throughout.

When to book a newborn photoshoot

The classic newborn look — curled, tucked, deeply asleep — comes from the first two to three weeks, while a baby still folds naturally into the positions they held before birth. That window closes quickly, which is why most families book during pregnancy and hold an approximate date rather than a fixed one.

Get in touch as soon as you have a due date. We pencil in a window rather than a day, because babies rarely arrive to schedule and a newborn session has to move with them. If your baby comes early or late, we shift.

If you are reading this with a six-week-old already at home, nothing is lost. Older babies stay awake longer and hold eye contact, so the session moves towards awake portraits and family frames instead. Plenty of parents end up preferring those.

Safety, and what supported posing actually means

This is the part parents ask about most, and it deserves a straight answer. Every pose in a newborn session is supported. A parent or one of us stays within reach of your baby at all times, and nothing is ever balanced, propped or left unattended for the sake of a photograph.

The studio is kept warm because a warm baby sleeps, and a sleeping baby is a comfortable one. We work slowly, in short bursts, and stop the moment your baby is unsettled. If a pose is not working we move on rather than push — no single frame is worth a distressed newborn.

How a session actually runs

Plan for a session that is mostly not photography. Feeding, changing and settling take up the bulk of a newborn shoot, and that is by design rather than a delay. We work around your baby rather than to a clock.

Parents stay in the room throughout. Alongside the classic studio setups we photograph family hands, an older sibling meeting the baby for the first time, and the quiet moments between setups — often the frames families come back to years later.

Older siblings are usually photographed early, while their patience is intact, then free to play while we carry on.

At our studio in Wadgaon Sheri

Newborn sessions run at our studio on the first floor in Wadgaon Sheri, where warmth and light stay consistent regardless of the weather outside. Viman Nagar, Kharadi, Kalyani Nagar and Chandan Nagar are the neighbouring localities, which matters more than it sounds when you are travelling with a two-week-old.

Bring extra feeds, a change of clothes, and anything sentimental you would like in the photographs — a wrap, a name plaque, a piece of family jewellery. Tell us beforehand if you have a colour or a look in mind and we will plan the setups around it.

Twins, and babies who arrive early

Twins take longer and are photographed differently — settling two babies at once is a slower job than settling one, and the session is planned with that in mind rather than squeezed into the same slot.

Babies who arrive early often stay smaller for longer, which can widen the newborn window rather than close it. Tell us what your paediatrician has advised and we will plan around it instead of around a calendar.

Before you book

Newborn photography, answered

Straight answers on timing, cost and what you actually receive. Anything else, just ask — we would rather explain it now than have you guess.

When should I book a newborn shoot?

Most families book during pregnancy and schedule the session for the first few weeks after birth. Get in touch as soon as you have a due date and we will hold an approximate window.

Where does the session happen?

At our studio on the 1st floor in Wadgaon Sheri, Pune, where we can control warmth and light. Talk to us if you would prefer a session at home.

Is newborn posing safe?

Yes. Every pose is supported — a parent or one of us stays beside your baby throughout, and nothing is balanced or left unsupported. If a pose is not working we move on rather than push it.

What if my baby will not settle?

That is completely normal and we plan for it. We stop, you feed or change as needed, and we start again when your baby is ready. A session is paced around the baby, not a clock.

My baby is already several weeks old. Is it too late?

Not at all. Older babies stay awake longer and are more alert, so the session shifts towards eyes-open portraits and family frames. Many parents prefer those. Tell us your baby’s age and we will plan accordingly.

What should we bring?

Extra feeds, a change of clothes, and anything sentimental you would like in the photographs — a blanket, a name plaque, a piece of jewellery. Tell us what you have in mind when you book and we will say what else is worth bringing.

What does a newborn shoot cost in Pune?

It depends on how long the session runs, how many setups you want, whether parent and sibling portraits are included, and how many edited photographs you receive. We do not publish a fixed price because no two are the same. Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back with a clear quote — nothing hidden in the small print.

What is the best age for a newborn photoshoot?

The first two to three weeks. A baby that age still curls into the positions they held before birth and sleeps deeply enough to be posed, which is what produces the classic newborn look. After about four weeks they stay awake longer, so the session moves towards awake portraits and family frames instead.

Is newborn posing safe for my baby?

Yes, when every pose is supported. A parent or one of us stays within reach of your baby at all times, and nothing is ever balanced, propped or left unattended for a photograph. If a pose is not working we move on rather than push it.

How long does a newborn session take?

Plan for two to three hours, most of which is not photography. Feeding, changing and settling take up the bulk of a newborn shoot by design, because the session works around your baby rather than to a clock.

Should I book my newborn shoot before the baby arrives?

Yes. Most families book during pregnancy and hold an approximate window rather than a fixed date, because babies rarely arrive to schedule. Get in touch as soon as you have a due date and we will move the date with you if the baby comes early or late.

What should I bring to a newborn photoshoot?

Extra feeds, a change of clothes for you and the baby, and anything sentimental you would like photographed — a wrap, a name plaque, a piece of family jewellery. Tell us beforehand if you have a colour or a look in mind so the setups can be planned around it.

Can siblings and parents be in the newborn photos?

Yes, and they usually produce the frames families keep longest. Older siblings are photographed early while their patience lasts, then free to play. Parents stay in the room throughout the session anyway.

Can you photograph twins or a premature baby?

Yes. Twins take longer because settling two babies is a slower job than one, so the session is planned for that rather than squeezed into the same slot. Babies born early often stay smaller for longer, which can widen the newborn window rather than close it.

How do I choose a newborn photographer in Pune?

Ask three things: whether they photograph newborns regularly rather than occasionally, whether every pose is supported, and whether the session is paced around feeding and settling. A studio that answers those without being pushed is the one to book. Ask to see a full set from one session, not selected highlights from many.
