Room Photography in Pune

You do not always need the house photographed. A newly finished kitchen, a nursery, a home office, one restyled bedroom or a bathroom that took four months longer than anyone predicted is a complete piece of work in itself.

It deserves a proper set rather than a corner of a wider shoot, and it deserves being treated as the subject rather than as one stop on a tour of the property.

A single room done properly is not a single photograph. It is an establishing frame that shows the whole space, two or three medium views that show how it works, and the close details that show what it is made of.

That structure is what makes one room look like a considered project rather than a snapshot. It is also what makes the images usable in more than one place — a wide for the top of a page, a medium for the body, a detail for a post.

It also means the room is covered from more than one entrance where the layout allows, which is what keeps a set of one space from feeling repetitive.

Renovations rarely finish all at once. The kitchen is done in March, the bedrooms in July, the terrace whenever the monsoon allows.

Photographing each room as it completes is usually better than waiting for the whole house. The work is captured while it is genuinely finished and before it has been lived in for six months, and you are not left holding a project that never quite reaches the point of being fully done.

It also spreads the work out rather than concentrating it into one long and expensive day.

A single room is a shorter job than a house, and it is quoted as a shorter job. We do not have a minimum that forces a one-room brief into a half-day rate.

Several rooms photographed on the same visit cost less between them than the same rooms photographed across separate visits, so if two are close to finished it is usually worth waiting a fortnight and doing both.

The preparation is the same as for a whole house and much easier to actually do, because it is one room.

Clear the surfaces, hide the cables, remove anything you would not want in a printed photograph, and give the windows a clean if they need it — glass shows in a way it never does to the eye.
